Indupur is a village in the district of Deoria in Uttar Pradesh, India. It is also known as "Skulo Wala Gaonw". It is sometimes also considered the capital of the "chhaha-gonwa", the group of 6 villages around it. Indupur is comes under the Rudrapur Legislative Assembly area and Bansgaon Lok Sabha Area. is the current MLA and Kamlesh Paswan is the current MP of this area and Smt.Abha Singh is the current Gram Pradhan(Sarpanch) of Indupur village. Indupur comes under the jurisdiction of the Gauri Bazar Police station. The nearby railway station is Gauri Bazar which is 35 km from Gorakhpur railway station. NH-28 passes through Gauri Bazar, which is 3 km from the village.
Indupur is the spiritual capital of "chhaha-gonwa". It is often referred to as "the holy village of "chhaha-gonwa", "the religious capital of chhaha-gonwa", "the village of Kali Mata Mandir", and "the village of learning". Head priest of the kalika mandir is known as Naga Baba. Not only the people chhaha-gonwa but also people around 15 km from Indupur regularly visit mata kalika mandir, and also to take the advantage of resources available within Indupur. Indupur is the educational hub for the villages 15 km around it. Indupur abbreviated as "Skulo Wala Gaonw"and "the village of learning" because within 1 km2,Eight government school/colleges, Four special government aided schools for child and Five government approved private school/colleges are present.
Etymology
The name Indupur[3] possibly originates from the names of king "Indu". who was ruling in indupur as an independent ruler during the year 688 AD or विक्रम संवत 745.
History
Indupur is a historic village, there is a huge temple south of the village of Kalika Bhavani. In the south-west side of the temple exists scattered pile of old bricks can be seen at the very first observation that must have been known/stronghold for a king. By the study of many scholar it is observed/investigated that during the year 688 AD or विक्रम संवत 745, this area was ruled by an independent king "Indu Rajbhar". King "Indu" was ruling here as an independent ruler and his territory was extended 7 km in south, 16 km in north, in east till Deoria and in west till Chauri Chaura from Indupur.Even today it is common lore that, indupur was resettled by the king "Indu Rajbhar". so that village was named on the honor of king indu. People also says that indupur was ruled since ancestors if king "Indu".[4]
Economy
The economy of indupur village is primarily based on the agriculture, business and service sector/industry. People from all over chhaha-gonwa and more than 20 villages other than chhaha-gonwa comes to indupur on daily basis for education, medical and other facilities which are better than those areas. There are branches of nationalized banks such as Purvanchal Gramin Bank and Central Bank of India along with ATM machines, two more branches of nationalized private banks such as ICICI and HDFC are likely to be open till the end of 2014.
Approximately 30% of Indupur's population is employed. Approximately 60% of those employed work in agriculture, 24% work in trade and commerce, 10% work in both agriculture and trade and commerce, 10% work in other services, 6% work in transport and communication, 8% work in construction, and 2% are marginal workers (working for less than half of the year).
On the last day of week or Saturday huge crowd gather indupur for marketing, because at every Saturday indupur organize a mega-market for more than 10,000 people and during other working day more than 3,500 students daily visit indupur for education. On an average on daily basis more than 15,000 people visit indupur for utilizing the resources, so that ultimately village generate plenty amount of revenue throughout the year.

It is located 15 km towards west from District headquarters Deoria. 4 km from Gauri Buzurg. 317 km from State capital Lucknow. Indupur Pin code is 274202 and postal head office is Gauri Bazar .

Demographics
According to provisional data from the 2011 census, the Indupur had a population of 3,370 with 1,703 men and 1,667 women.[5] The literacy rate in the indupur is about 78%.

In indupur various types of cultural and sports activity performed throughout the year and it organises by the contribution of enthusiastic youth and by the guidance of senior person of the chhaha-gonwa. Most famous and long term cultural activity organized in Indupur is RAM-LILA in the honour of Powari Ji Maharaj . The event start before the 5 days of beginning of navratra and activity of Ram-Lila took place about 20-25 days. Similarly various types of Sports activity is also organized throughout the year by a registered non-profitable organization and it is known as Chhaha-Gonwa Navyuvjan Committee, which organizes sports such as Kabbadi, Cricket, Football etc.
Chhaha-Gonwa Navyuvjan Committee
It is a registered non-profitable organization of the chhaha-gonwa. This organization is currently running under the guidance of Shri Shardul Singh. In Hindi, he also termed as मार्ग-दर्शक. The current acting President and the principal secretary of this organization is Karamvir Singh shrinet. Nowadays more than thousands youth are working with this organization with a single motto to make their chhaha-gonwa more stronger in each and every field of sports activity. Various types of activity organised by them are listed below.
- Kabbadi :
A state level kabbadi competition is organised by Chhaha-Gonwa Navyuvjan Committee every year after Dussehra festival in the memory of former MLA of this area Late. Shri Ranjeet Singh. People organizes event in his memory because, he sacrifice his life for the development of chhaha-gonwa and other backward area nearby chhaha-gonwa.
