Petrov or Petroff (Template:Lang-ru; pronounced [p] or [pʲɪˈtrof]; masculine) or Petrova (Template:Lang-ru; pronounced [pʲɪˈtrovə]; feminine), is one of the most common surnames in Russia and Bulgaria. The surname is derived from the first name Pyotr (Пётр, Russian) or Petar (Петър, Bulgarian) (Slavic forms of the Greek name of the Christian apostle, in English Peter) and literally means Pyotr's or Petar's.
