Nexperia is a Chinese-owned semiconductor manufacturer headquartered in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. It has front-end factories in Hamburg, Germany and Greater Manchester, England.[2] It is the former Standard Products business unit of NXP Semiconductors, (formerly Philips Semiconductors). The company's product range includes bipolar transistors, diodes, ESD protection, TVS diodes, MOSFETs, and logic devices.[3]

History

On June 14, 2016,[4] it was announced that Nexperia would be divested from NXP to a consortium of Chinese financial investors consisting of Beijing Jianguang Asset Management Co., Ltd ("JAC Capital") and Wise Road Capital LTD ("Wise Road Capital"). The transaction became official on 6 February 2017.

JAC Capital and Wise Road Capital focuses on global investments, including investment in R&D, manufacturing and customer service.[4] Following the transaction, Nexperia became an independent company, and the entire scope of the NXP Standard Products business, including its management team, led by Frans Scheper, and approximately 11,000 NXP employees were transferred to Nexperia.[4]

Before becoming the company name for the Standards Products business spun-off from NXP, Nexperia was a brand for NXP's media processors range.[5]
