Sholingur Assembly constituency
Appearance
Sholinghur is a state assembly constituency in Vellore district in Tamil Nadu, India.[1] It consists of portions of the Walajah and Arakkonam taluks. It falls under Arakkonam constituency for national elections to the Parliament of India.[2]
The mostly rural constituency was politically dominated from the 1960s by four brothers, including A. M. Ponnuranga Mudaliar and A. M. Munirathinam Mudaliar, from a staunch Indian National Congress-supporting family. One or other of the brothers either won or was runner-up in eight of the twelve state assembly elections between 1962 and 2011.[3]
