The Youth World Amateur Boxing Championships, or AIBA Youth World Championships, is a boxing championship event organised by the AIBA for "Youth" competitors who are between the age of 17-19 years old. It is biennially competition which began in 2008 in Guadalajara, Mexico. AIBA Junior World Championships, is a boxing championship event organised by the AIBA for "Junior" competitors who are between the age of 15-17 years old. It is biennially competition which began in 2009 in Yerevan, Armenia.
History
The competitions are under the supervision of the world's governing body for amateur boxing AIBA and are the younger versions of the World Amateur Boxing Championships. The Youth World Championships replaced the Junior World Championships which ran from 1979 to 2006. The Junior World Championships replaced the Cadet World Championships which ran from 2001 to 2007.[1]
