Al-Qādisiyyah Governorate ([القادسية Al Qādisiyyah] Error: {{Lang-xx}}: text has italic markup (help)) is one of the governorates of Iraq. It is in the center of the country. Its capital is Al Diwaniyah. Before 1976, it was part of the ad-Diwāniyyah Province, along with al-Muthannā Governorate and Najaf Governorate. Historically speaking, the Governorate is named for the historic town of Al-Qādisiyyah, site of the Battle of al-Qādisiyyah, where in 636 CE the muslims defeated the forces of the Sassanid Empire.
