Asselby is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is located in the south-west of the county, north of the River Ouse. It is situated approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) west of the market town of Howden.

Main Street, Asselby

The civil parish is formed by the village of Asselby and the hamlet of Knedlington, together with that part of Boothferry village west of the B1228 road. According to the 2011 UK census, Asselby parish had a population of 351,[1] a rise from the 2001 UK census figure of 299.[2] The parish covers an area of 532.14 hectares (1,314.9 acres).[3]

The village has one pub, Whelans of Asselby, situated on Main Street. There are no other public businesses trading in the village. Unusually, Asselby is situated on an entirely dead-end road, which finishes in the next village (which is slightly larger than Asselby), Barmby on the Marsh.
