Baghuapal is a village in Kalinga Nagar,[1] an industrial town in Kalinga Nagar Development Authority of the Jajpur district, in the Indian state of Orissa.
History
The village's population mainly descends from the Ho tribe, which migrated from West-Singhbhum, East-Singhbhum, Saraikela-Kharswan, the Khunti district of the state of Jharkhand, Mayurbhanj and the Keonjhar district of Orissa between the early 1910s and 1930s in different phases.
Baghuapal was a well known center during the administration of Sukindagarh. The king of Sukindagarh appointed the Haibru family of the village as local administrators of the Ho population.
Geography
The geographical area is 240 hectares. Jajpur is the nearest town to Baghuapal, approximately 26 kilometres away. Baghuapal is 109 km from Capital City Bhubaneswar, 88 km from Cuttack and around 95 km from Kendujhargarh by rail.
Demographics
Baghuapal has a population of around 2,100 living in about 163 houses. The Ho tribe composes around 99.5% of the population; the remaining 0.5% is made up of scheduled castes (such as Pan and Tanti people).
Approximately 99.2% of Baghuapal's population are followers of the Sarna religion. Hindus account for around 0.7% and the remainder are Christians.
Economy
Many of the younger people are employed by the Indian and Orissa governments. Some are working with private organizations, or are involved in their own businesses.
Places of worship
- Sala of Baghuapal is a sala or community worship centre where the village deity is established and the head pujari and others used to offer puja in different village festivals.
- Mahadevsala (God Shiva’s worship place): It’s a worship place of the village for Lord Shiva, situated in the middle of the village called Mahadev Vir.
- Maa Tarini Temple, Bajrapalli(Baghuapal): It’s a worship place for Maa Tarini Goddess situated at the end of the village.
Transport
Baghuapal has a railway station of East-Coast Railway Zone in Jakhapura-Banspani link. The Puri-Chakradharpur Intercity Express and Kendujhargarh-Bhubaneswar Fast Passenger stops there.
Baghuapal is also well connected with other cities by road.
Educational Institutes
Baghuapal has one school called Bajrapalli Middle English School, Baghuapal. The village has no high schools, colleges, or technical institutes.
Politics
Baghuapal participates equally in electing delegates to the Lok Sabha.
