Cătălin Zmărăndescu (born January 26, 1973, in Bucharest)[1] is a Romanian professional mixed martial artist, boxer and kickboxer. He has fought for the Local Kombat kickboxing circuit before turning to MMA.

Biography

He played rugby and was amateur wrestler for Steaua before becoming a sanshou practitioner.[2]

Aside from sport, Zmărăndescu was the bodyguard of Gigi Becali.

Mixed martial arts career

Cătălin Zmărăndescu moved to the UK from Romania and started training with BJJ Black Belt Eddie Kone and his Bloodline fight team. He is currently managed by Flawless MMA.

At BAMMA 6, Zmărăndescu stopped Sharif Mohammed Ali early in the first round due to a forearm choke.[3]

His next bout was against Mark Godbeer in a Heavyweight bout at BAMMA 9 on March 24, 2012. He lost by corner stoppage at the conclusion of the first round.

In 2013, Zmarandeacu become IFC Heavyweight Champion (MMA) after he defeated Vince Lucero from USA in the first round by TKO, in just 1 minute and 18 seconds.
