Illegal uplinking

Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) had issued notices to various foreign channels for illegal uplinking from Abbottabad.

These channels had been uplinking their transmission without permission from PEMRA. Abbottabbad had been the centre of attention for many channels since the United States operation in which Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was killed after a raid on a compound.

The news channels that had been issued notices included CNN International, BBC World News, Fox News Channel, NBC News, Channel NewsAsia, CNN-IBN, Aljazeera English, Voice of America and Sky News.
