Chakradhari (English: A Person Holding a Wheel - Lord Krishna) is a 1977 Telugu devotional biographical film,[2] produced by N. R. Anuradha Devi under the Lakshmi Films Combines banner[3] and directed by V. Madhusudhan Rao.[4] The film stars Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Vanisri in the lead roles.[5] The movie was a remake of the 1974 Kannada movie Bhakta Kumbara, which was based on the life of potter-turned-saint Gora Kumbhar. Soundtrack was composed by G. K. Venkatesh, who had also composed music for the Kannada version. 4 songs were also retained from the original version.[6][7]
Plot
The film is based on the life of Gora Kumbhar, a potter who turned into a saint who lived in the 13th and 14th century in Teredoki. Gora (Akkineni Nageswara Rao) is a pot seller, living a happy life with his Lakshmi (Vanisri) and they have a kid. He spends most of his time singing about Lord Panduranga (Ramakrishna). Once, he forgets everything when he is praying to the lord and lost his child while curing the clay by his legs for making pots, because he did not notice his child fumbling under his feet as he immersed himself in chanting the name of God, which angers his wife a lot and she takes an oath on god that he should not touch her. From that day, Gora makes his work on his own, Lakshmi is not able to see his trouble, so she makes remarriage to him with her sister Manju (Jayaprada). Gora makes a promise he will never touch her also and in case he touches her, he will cut his hands. And one day he touches her and cuts his hands and Lord Panduranga comes in form of a potter Ranganna, who starts serving him. The rest of the story is how the lord completes his test of Gora.
