Dominic Haakon Myrtvedt Purcell[2] (born 17th February 1970) is an English-born Australian actor. He is known for his portrayal of the character Lincoln Burrows in Prison Break, the title character in John Doe, and Dracula in Blade: Trinity. He worked closely with Wentworth Miller in Prison Break and as Mick Rory/Heat Wave in DC's The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow.

Early life

Purcell was born in Wallasey, Merseyside,[1] the son of Gerald and Mary T. "Maureen" (née Hassett) Purcell. He is of Irish and Norwegian descent. In 1972, he and his family moved to Bondi, New South Wales, and later to Western Sydney.[3] He attended Blaxland East Public School and Blaxland High School, as well as St Dominic's College and McCarthy Catholic College. After becoming a landscape gardener, he grew tired of the profession and decided to become an actor after watching the film Platoon.[citation needed] He later attended the Australian Theatre for Young People and then enrolled at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, where he studied with Hugh Jackman.[4]

Personal life

Purcell's three brothers and one sister live in Dundalk and hold Irish citizenship.[citation needed] In August 1997, Purcell started dating Rebecca Williamson. They married on 1 August 1998 after one year of dating and have four children together : son Joseph (born 12 August 1999), daughter Audrey (born 30 January 2001) and twins Lily-Rose and Augustus (born 7 July 2003). In October 2007, Purcell and Williamson separated and divorced on 22 October 2008.[citation needed] From 2011 to 2014 he dated actress AnnaLynne McCord, the couple broke up but in January 2016 it was announced that they resumed their relationship.
