Quentin Jorquera (born July 3, 1990, in Valence, France) is a cinematographer and virtual production consultant. He has worked across France, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Asia, contributing to the fields of cinematography and virtual production.

Early Life and Education

Quentin Jorquera was born in Valence, France, and raised in the South Pacific, between New Caledonia and Vanuatu. He studied cinema and image studies at 3iS - Institut International de l'Image et du Son, earning a Bachelor's degree in Image from 2012 to 2015. He also studied stage setting and acting at the Ecole de Théâtre du Centre de Danse du Marais and cinema at Université Sorbonne Nouvelle - Paris 3.

Career

Jorquera began his career in the film industry as a freelance writer for Avant-Scène Cinéma in 2008. He transitioned to roles such as camera assistant and gaffer, working on various projects, including the film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets directed by Luc Besson.

In 2015, he became a freelance Director of Photography, working on TV dramas, music videos, and commercials. He is a member of the Australian Cinematographers Society.

From 2020 to 2021, Jorquera was the CEO of Stranded Producers, a line production company based in London, collaborating with brands like L’Oreal, Microsoft, and Uber. During this time, he led Perseus XR, a research project exploring virtual production solutions. In 2020, he designed a virtual production studio project at the former Pinewood Studios in Iskandar, Malaysia.

In 2022, Jorquera joined Dark Matters Studios as an in-house "Virtual DP," where he helped establish the studio's virtual production pipeline and workflows and showcasing the technology to directors such as Jacques Audiard and Xavier Gens. He completed Unreal Engine Fellowship training and contributed to projects, including the Apple TV show Franklin.

Transitioning to consultancy, Quentin provided guidance for virtual production film projects, studio construction, and workflow enhancement for companies such as Arri, Peninsula Film, First Step, Netflix, Sony and Faber.

Quentin Jorquera is an active member of both the Commission supérieure technique de l'image et du son and the Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée.

He currently works for the Virtual Production company Pixomondo part of the Sony Pictures conglomerate as Senior Virtual Production Technician.
