The Ice Dragon is an upcoming 3D computer-animated film based on the novel of the same name by George R. R. Martin, produced by Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film is written by David Anthony Durham.

Plot[edit]

A young girl named Adara makes a special connection with a feared and mythic ice dragon, but when another breed of dragon flies in to destroy her world, she and her dragon must find a way to stop the invaders.[1]

Production[edit]

On May 23, 2018, Warner Animation Group acquired the rights to make a feature-length animated film based on The Ice Dragon, with George R. R. Martin producing and his manager, Vince Geradis, as executive producer.[2] On October 28, 2022, during a livestreamed interview moderated by author David Anthony Durham, Martin said that the adaptation would be going forward with Durham writing the screenplay.[3]
