An untitled Tomb Raider game is an upcoming action-adventure game developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Amazon Games. It is intended to be part of the Tomb Raider series.
Development
[edit]During the 25th anniversary celebration of the Tomb Raider franchise in 2021, Crystal Dynamics announced their intentions to "unify the timelines", and create a brand new Tomb Raider game that would combine elements from all three series, including the work of Core Design. In this timeline, Lara Croft would be a seasoned adventurer.[1] In April 2022, Crystal Dynamics announced that a new instalment was in development and will be developed on the Unreal Engine 5.[2]
In May 2022, Square Enix and Embracer Group entered into an agreement for Embracer to purchase several assets of Square Enix Europe for $300 million, including developer Crystal Dynamics and the Tomb Raider franchise among others, with the deal expected to be completed in the second quarter of Embracer's financial year.[3][4] The acquisition was completed on August 26, 2022, with the assets being held under CDE Entertainment.[5] In December 2022, it was announced that Amazon Games would publish the new Tomb Raider game.[6]
