Two drafts about Al Gross
[edit]Hey everyone, We have another draft about the politician Al Gross. We need to decide which draft we are going to use. Here is the link to the other draft: Draft:Al Gross (Senate Candidate) -AdamT777 (talk) 23:35 (UTC), 25 August 2020
- Follow directions at WP:MERGE and the articles can be merged. KidAd talk 23:41, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
- Adam, try paying closer attention. A link to his campaign website was inserted into the following thread. There, you will find him clearly stating that he's not a politician. So why are you calling him one? It's bad enough that the very existence of this article basically amounts to POV pushing, namely the belief that being the face behind a monied campaign for a certain office somehow equals notability. Here, you're adding insult to POV-pushing injury making statements like that. RadioKAOS / Talk to me, Billy / Transmissions 14:17, 22 October 2020 (UTC)
- I may have accidentally called him a politician, sorry. But, on your part, please do not accuse me of making “injury making statements.” I demand that you retract that statement. I am also trying to help by saying that we need to merge both drafts into one. Also, the name of this draft is Draft:Al:Gross (politician). So stop accusing me of making statements that I clearly did not make. User:AdamT777 User talk:AdamT777
Back on the core topic of this section: it looks like there's a second draft at Draft:Al Gross (politician) 2 that should be deleted, now that this article exists. I briefly reviewed it for any changes that should be incorporated here and added in a few; the remaining major difference is two sentences about why "firing up the partisan base" could backfire, which seem slightly speculative to me and not strictly necessary for this article. I figure I'll nominate it at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion in a day or so if nobody else gets to it first, but I'd encourage other people to feel free to review it and incorporate anything you see that seems missing. USC or UCLA
[edit]Did Dr. Gross earn his Master's degree from USC, as stated by Alaska Public this year or UCLA, as stated by Anchorage Daily News in 2017? ST47 (talk) 02:50, 22 October 2020 (UTC)
- His campaign site says it's UCLA, so I'll go with that. ST47 (talk) 03:43, 22 October 2020 (UTC)
Bollocks
[edit]I'm puzzled as to why some people around here are so hellbent on further compromising this site's credibility. This article and the various drafts floating around on Gross are blatant campaign advertisements. Why should I believe this is credible when people with rock-solid claims to notability have had their entries compromised or even deleted? The best exposure money can buy, I guess. Furthermore, the first paragraph of the homepage on his campaign website clearly states "I'm not a politician". So why are people here so determined to call him one through the article title? Outcome of 2020 Senate election
[edit]The race was finally called by various sources, after only 75% of the vote was slowly tallied, according to the New York Times. However, Sullivan at that point was ahead by just over 53,000 votes with 75% counted. That meant Gross was losing by 60%-40% compared to Sullivan, with the Alaska Independence Party taking 5% of the vote. Gross would have to win more than 53,000 more than Sullivan of the remaining 83,000 or so left, to win. The AIP candidate would be expected to take 4,150 of those. I expect that the eventual loss by Al Gross will be by about 70,000+ votes. I changed the text in the lede but kept the citations from the other two editors who posted.
