Amateur career

Hrgović was boxing for BK Leonardo under Leonardo Pjetraj.

Filip was 6 times Croatian Senior Boxing Champion (2011, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16), once runner up (2010).

He was also WSB Season I Champion (as member of Paris United team) and two times (Season III and season V) as member of Astana Arlans team, with a 26-4 record.[1]

He was named March Boxer of the Month in 2015 by AIBA.[2]

Hrgović was the man credited for the cancellation of the David Haye vs Tyson Fury fight in 2013, after he cut Haye in a sparring session.[3][4] He was also Kubrat Pulev's sparring partner for his fight against Wladimir Klitschko in 2014.[5][6]

Filip was a boxing bronze medallist in the men's super heavyweight category at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games after being narrowly defeated by Tony Yoka of France in the semi-finals.

After Olympics, he was awarded Order of Danica Hrvatska with face of Franjo Bučar by President of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, for extraordinary sports success and winning a medal at Olympics, also for promotion of sports and the reputation of the Croatia in the world.[7]

Professional career

On 30 September 2017, Hrgović started his professional career with a first-round stoppage victory over Raphael Zumbano of Brazil.[8] Hrgović signed a deal with Sauerland Promotions following his debut.[9]
