Goulburn Valley Suns are a professional association football club based in Shepparton, Victoria. The club was established in 2013, and currently competes in the National Premier Leagues Victoria 1.

History

2014: In the club's first season of competition, the Suns placed last in the National Premier Leagues Victoria, managing 10 points in 26 games. As a result of the club's 14th place in 2014, they were relegated to National Premier Leagues Victoria 1, which for 2015 was separated into an Eastern and Western conference, GVS competing in the Eastern conference.

2015: Despite losing key player Simon Colosimo Suns made an amazing Start to the season, Defeating 2015 NPL 1 Title winners Richmond SC 6–0 and 7–1 win over Murray United FC in the country Derby which would start a 5-game winning streak where the suns would go on score 21 goals and concede only 2. But after such a cracking start to the season the suns would endure a sticky spell though their next 5 matches as they could only claim 4 out of a possible 15 points. After the first ten matches the suns continued on to have fairly decent season where they would finish fifth overall, which put them ten points from the champions Richmond SC. Prolific striker Craig Carley won the National Premier Leagues Victoria 2 golden boot, scoring 34 goals.[1]

2016: On 2 May 2016, star striker Carley left the club to join Hume City FC. Carley had been the Suns' top goalscorer so far, with six goals at the time of his departure.[1] The Suns moved quickly to replace Carley, announcing the signing of former Central Coast Mariners player Daniel Heffernan on 21 May 2016.[2]
