Preliminary Round

In the preliminary round Canada and the United States went undefeated and qualified for the semifinals, while Finland and Sweden also qualified by finishing second in their respective pools. Russia, Germany, Italy and Switzerland were eliminated from medal contention, but participated in the Classification round, later in the tournament.[1]
