The KW Titans are a Canadian professional basketball team based in Kitchener, Ontario and representing the Waterloo region. They will compete in the National Basketball League of Canada for the 2016–17 season. Their home games are played at Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.

History

On June 28, 2016, the National Basketball League of Canada announced an approved expansion team to represent the Waterloo region of Ontario while still in the process of negotiating a lease with the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.[1] The new ownership group was composed by several local businesses with the majority ownership going to Ball Construction and minority stakes held by Innosoft Canada and local entrepreneur Leon Martin.[2] Ball Construction's chief financial officer, Frank Schneider, was named team president in representing the ownership group in team dealings.[3] The team name was determined through a name-the-team contest and the KW Titans was announced on July 29.[4] On August 23, the Titans confirmed they would be plying home games at the Kitchen Aud while also announcing their inaugural head coach, Serge Langis, first player signing, and their new uniforms.[5]
