Kia Ora is a locality in the Gympie Region, Queensland, Australia.[2] In the 2011 census, Kia Ora had a population of 501 people.[1]

History

Kia-Ora Provisional School opened on 18 July 1921. It became a state school in 1927.[3][4] It is located at 2754 Anderleigh Rd (26°01′41″S 152°46′36″E / 26.02817°S 152.77676°E / -26.02817; 152.77676 (Kia-Ora State School)).[5]

The Kia Ora Memorial Hall was erected to honour those who served in war. It is located on the corner of Johnson and Anderleigh Roads (26°01′38″S 152°46′39″E / 26.027132°S 152.777397°E / -26.027132; 152.777397 (Kia Ora Memorial Hall)). [6]

In 1931, the main industries were dairying and forestry.[7]
