Konstantin Lvovich Ernst[2] (Russian: Константин Львович Эрнст) (born February 6, 1961) is a Russian director, producer and TV personality, working as Director General of the Channel One.[3] Ernst was director of the 2014 Winter Olympics opening ceremony.[4]

Biography

Konstantin Ernst is the son of a biologist Lev Konstantinovich Ernst[5] (January 8, 1929 - April 26, 2012), doctor of agricultural sciences, professor, member of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Konstantin was named after his grandfather (Father of Lev Konstantinovich).

Education

He graduated from High School No. 35 in Leningrad. In 1978-1983 he was a student of Timiryazev Agricultural Academy, Zooenginerniy faculty (Animal Science Department, Farm Animals), in Moscow. In 1983 he was graduated from Timiryazev Agricultural Academy with honor. In 1983 he graduated from Leningrad State University, Biology Department. He worked in various research institutes. When he was 25 years old, he received his Ph.D. in biochemistry.

Television

From 1988 to 1990 he worked at the First Channel of the Soviet TV in the program "Vzglyad" (English: "Outlook").

In 1991-1995 he was the author, presenter, director and producer of the television program Matador. He has implemented many successful projects, including a musical feature film Radio Silence (1988; director, producer), and a short feature film Homo Duplex (1989; director, producer).

In 1995, he was appointed to the position of General Producer of the ORT Channel.

On September 6, 1999 he was appointed to the position of Director General of the ORT.

Personal life

His first wife was Anna Silyunas - a Theatre critic person, mother of Alexandra Ernst (b. 1994).[6]

His current wife is Larissa Sinelshchikova, President of Red Square TV Channel, mother of Igor and Anastasia .
