List of NCAA Division I FBS football stadiums
This is a list of stadiums that currently serve as the home venue for NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision college football teams. These include most of the largest stadiums in the United States.
Conference affiliations reflect those in the current 2016 season. While Coastal Carolina started an FBS transition in 2016, it is officially classified as an FCS independent for that season.[1]
Current stadiums
1 – Largest football crowd. Larger attendance records may exist for other configurations of the stadium. Also, a few stadiums now have lower football capacity than in the past; one example is California Memorial Stadium, whose capacity dropped by more than 9,000 in its most recent renovation.
2 – Year of most recent completed stadium expansion/major upgrade
Future stadiums
This list includes the following:
- Stadiums either under construction or confirmed to be built in the future.
- Existing stadiums of teams either (1) transitioning to FBS and not yet football members of FBS conferences, or (2) returning to FBS football.
Here, conference affiliations are those expected to be in effect when the stadium becomes an FBS venue, whether by opening, reopening, or a school's entry into provisional or full FBS membership.
Stadium | City | State | Team | Conference | Capacity | Record1 | Built | Expanded2 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Brooks Stadium | Conway | South Carolina | Coastal Carolina | Sun Belt[n 1] | 20,000[n 2] | 2003 | 2017 | |
Legion Field | Birmingham | Alabama | UAB | C-USA[n 3] | 71,594 | 1927 | 2015 | |
Sonny Lubick Field at Colorado State Stadium | Fort Collins | Colorado | Colorado State | Mountain West | 41,000[157] | 2017 | ||
Georgia State Stadium | Atlanta | Georgia | Georgia State | Sun Belt[n 4] | 23,000[n 5] | 1996 |
- ^ Coastal Carolina joined the Sun Belt Conference in 2016, initially as a non-football member. It will join Sun Belt football in 2017.
- ^ Expected capacity when ongoing renovation is completed.
- ^ UAB dropped football after the 2014 season, but later announced that football would resume in 2017. The school remains a member of Conference USA, and the revived program will rejoin C-USA football as a full FBS member.
- ^ Georgia State played in the Georgia Dome from 2010 until 2016. After completing the purchase of Turner Field in 2016 they will move into the former home of the Atlanta Braves and the 1996 Olympic Games in 2017.
- ^ Planned capacity for football.
