Broken Bow is a Star Trek: Enterprise novel, which was released on 1 October 2001 (hardback) and 1 June 2003 (paperback).

The book is a novelization of the pilot episode of the same name. It is highly controversial among Trek fans - and with producer Rick Berman - due to author Diane Carey's constant use of passages, often presented as characters' internal monologues, commenting on how terrible she believed the script was (in the Season 1 Blu-ray special feature, Berman and Brannon Braga point out that the book is filled from "beginning to end" with such passages).

The Expanse is a Star Trek: Enterprise novel released in October 2003.

The Expanse plot

High above the planet Earth, an alien probe appears—and in an unspeakably horrific instant, releases a deadly blast that strafes the planet's surface, leaving a miles-wide, smoldering crater of destruction in its wake. Millions die in Florida, Cuba, and Venezuela, their lives blotted out in a blazing millisecond.

Just as swiftly, the probe implodes and crashes on the planet surface, but the remnants provide no clue as to its origin. Who are the attackers, and what provoked them?

Aboard the Starship Enterprise, Captain Jonathan Archer learns of the destruction. His ship is called home; it is uncertain whether its mission of space exploration will continue.

But before Enterprise reaches Earth, Archer is abruptly kidnaped from the bridge by the time-traveling enemies he has encountered before. He finds himself aboard a Suliban vessel, face-to-face with his old nemesis, Silik, a high-ranking individual in a battle known only as the Temporal Cold War. Silik leads him to his master, a mysterious humanoid from the far future.

The humanoid claims that the attack on Earth was just a test; and the next attack will destroy Archer's home planet...unless he and the Enterprise crew stop it.

To do so, they must enter a region of space called The Expanse - an area so dangerous that no ship has ever emerged from it unscathed. Vulcan crews were driven to bloodthirsty madness, Klingon crews were anatomically inverted, their internal organs exposed outside their bodies...while they still lived. Many vessels were lost, never to be heard from again.

Archer faces the greatest crisis of his career: Should he believe Silik's time-traveling master, and expose his ship and crew to the perils of The Expanse, in hopes of saving Earth from destruction? And can he convince Starfleet Command and the Vulcan High Council to let Enterprise go to face her biggest challenge?

The Good That Men Do is a Star Trek: Enterprise relaunch novel released in March 2007.[2]

This novel uses the controversial[3][4][5] final episode of the television series "These Are the Voyages..." as a framing element to detail how Commander Tucker did not die, but survived. He was surgically altered to become a Romulan and worked undercover for Starfleet Intelligence with very few people allowed to know he was alive.

In the 22nd century, Commander Charles "Trip" Tucker III dies in the line of duty. In the 25th century, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine characters Jake Sisko and Nog discuss a story that goes against everything they were raised to believe about the pre-Federation Coalition of Planets, and a possible conspiracy to rewrite history. The story establishes that Section 31, the former rogue black ops agency within the Federation, has ceased to exist. The exact circumstances of the fall of Section 31 have not yet been revealed.

Kobayashi Maru

  • Kobayashi Maru: (September 2008): Tucker is still working undercover as a Starfleet agent in Romulan space, attempting to find out all he can learn about what the Romulans are planning, aside from gathering all intelligence on their new warp 7 engine, which is still only a theoretical possibility for Starfleet. The Kobayashi Maru scenario, as seen previously in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, is described for real in this book, when Archer attempts to rescue the crew of the freighter. He is forced to call off the rescue by means of a secret message from Tucker, shortly after which United Earth announces that it is at war with the Romulans.

The Romulan War: Beneath the Raptor's Wing is a Star Trek: Enterprise relaunch novel released 20 October 2009. This is the first Enterprise novel written solo by Michael A. Martin, after having collaborated with Andy Mangels on three previous Enterprise novels, as well as on numerous other projects. The book focuses on the Earth-Romulan War, which has never been seen on-screen during any of the Star Trek series, only mentioned. The book covers the first year of the war, from July 2155 to July 2156.

Starfleet and the other members of the coalition are losing the war with the Romulans. The other members of the coalition leave the coalition, leaving Earth to face the Romulans alone. Starfleet decides it needs ships more quickly and begins to rebuild the Daedalus-class ships with improved technology. The book ends with Commodore Archer leading his fleets against the Romulans and retaking a colony in the process. The victory celebrations are-short lived, however, as the enemy annexes a world within striking range of Earth itself.

Other books

  • The Romulan War: To Brave the Storm: (November 2011): The second Romulan War novel covers the remaining years of the Earth-Romulan War, and concludes with the formation of the United Federation of Planets.
  • Rise of the Federation: A Choice of Futures: (June 2013): This novel focuses on the early days of the United Federation of Planets and the lives of Admiral Jonathan Archer and his former crew. When several independent worlds ask for help against a little-known enemy, friction occurs among Federation officials over responding with aggression or responding with diplomacy.[6]
  • Rise of the Federation: Tower of Babel: (April 2014): Admiral Jonathan Archer and his allies work to bring the worlds and peoples of the prosperous Rigel system into the Federation. However amidst fierce political debates surrounding an upcoming Federation presidential election, the Orion Syndicate recruits allies of its own to beat the Federation at its own game.[7]
  • Rise of the Federation: Uncertain Logic: (April 2015): When the rediscovered teachings of Surak are seemingly proven to be a fraud, control of Vulcan threatens to revert to the old warlike regime. Admiral Archer, Captain T'Pol, and their allies investigate but do not suspect the true masterminds behind the conspiracy. Meanwhile, Captain Malcolm Reed and Trip Tucker work together when a technological threat from outside the Federation re-emerges.[8]
