Kim Tae-yeon, better known by the mononym Taeyeon, is a South Korean singer. She debuted in 2007 as a member of girl group Girls' Generation and initially achieved several awards and nominations for her early solo endeavors. In 2008, she won a Golden Disc Award in the Popularity category and a Cyworld Digital Music Award for Song of the Month with the song "If", which she recorded for the South Korean television series Hong Gil-dong. She also earned two MBC Drama Awards and a Mnet 20's Choice Award for her radio show Taeyeon's Chin Chin Radio in 2009.

Taeyeon's debut extended play I was released in 2015 to commercial success, peaking at number two on the Gaon Album Chart and has sold over 145,000 copies in South Korea.[1] The title track "I" peaked atop the Gaon Digital Chart and has sold over 1.8 million units.[2] I earned multiple awards and nominations, including a Gaon Chart Music Award for Song of the Year – October and a Golden Disc Award in the Digital category. Taeyeon herself achieved Best Female Artist at both the Mnet Asian Music Awards in 2015 and Golden Disc Awards in 2016. The title track "I" raked in a total of eleven trophies on five music programs including Inkigayo, M Countdown, Music Bank, Show! Music Core, and Show Champion.

In 2016, Taeyeon released her second extended play Why and two digital singles, "Rain" and "11:11". Why peaked atop the Gaon Album Chart[3] and yielded two singles, "Starlight" and "Why", which were both nominated for Song of the Year – June at the 2016 Gaon Chart Music Awards. The singles "Rain" and "11:11" were also nominated for Song of the Year – February and November, respectively, at the same ceremony. "Rain" also achieved multiple awards and nominations, including a Golden Disc Award in the Digital category and two Mnet Asian Music Award nominations for Song of the Year and Best Female Vocal Performance. Taeyeon herself won another Mnet Asian Music Award for Best Female Artist and a Melon Music Award for Top 10 Artists in 2016. She additionally earned three trophies on music programs for three songs–"Rain", "Starlight", and "Why".

Taeyeon's first studio album titled My Voice was released in February 2017 and produced a lead single titled "Fine". Overall, Taeyeon has accumulated 23 awards, 69 nominations, and 16 music program awards as of January 2018.

Music programs[edit]

Music programs in South Korea are broadcast on a weekly basis and feature performances of the most current and trending music releases by South Korean artists. Most programs include their own chart systems with different methodology, based on multiple criteria including digital sales, physical sales, streaming volume, and/or viewers' votes to rank the most popular songs of the week. The number-one song on the weekly chart will be awarded a trophy. As of March 2017, Taeyeon has accumulated sixteen trophies on the following music programs.
