Mahmoud Ibrahim Hassan (Template:Lang-arz), commonly known as Trézéguet[2] (born 1 October 1994) is an Egyptian professional footballer who plays for Belgian club Excel Mouscron on loan from Anderlecht and the Egypt national team as a midfielder.

Club career

Al Ahly

Hassan is a product of the Al Ahly youth academy. His first appearance for the first team was in the 2012 CAF Champions League.

In April 2013, he was offered a trial for French side Nice after playing well in the U20 African Youth Cup.[3] In December 2013, he was linked with European clubs including Celtic and Nottingham Forest.[4][5]

Anderlecht (loan)

On 6 August 2015, Trézéguet joined Belgian side Anderlecht on loan with Anderlecht gaining an option to permanently sign him after the season-long loan.[2][6] He made his official debut on 27 December 2015 against Westerlo as he replaced Dodi Lukebakio in the 82nd minute.[7]

Anderlecht

In March 2016, Anderlecht announced they would exercise their option to sign Trézéguet permanently from Al Ahly for a reported transfer fee of €2.2 million.[8] In May the move was completed.[9]

International career

A former U20 international, on 20 June 2013, Trezeguet scored a goal against England at the 2013 U-20 World Cup.[10] Trezeguet made his debut with the senior national team on 30 August 2014 when he was 19 years and 10 months old. Ever since he became a national team regular. He was chosen by Hector Cuper for the squad to play the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations,[11] where he was a regular in the team's starting lineup; he helped his nation to reach the final of the tournament, only to lose out to Cameroon.[12]
