Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) is the second level local authority for the Borough of Maidstone in Kent, United Kingdom.

History

The Local Government Act 1972 created the Borough of Maidstone by merging Maidstone Municipal Borough, Maidstone Rural District and Hollingbourne Rural District. Maidstone Borough Council was established as the local authority for the new borough. It took over the responsibilities of Maidstone Municipal Borough Council, Maidstone Rural District Council and Hollingbourne Rural District Council in its area. The council started functioning on 1 April 1974.
