The Melaka Butterfly and Reptile Sanctuary (Malay: Taman Rama-Rama dan Reptilia Melaka) is a zoo in Ayer Keroh, Melaka, Malaysia.

History

The sanctuary was opened on 1 February 1999 and officiated by Melaka Chief Minister Mohd Ali Rustam.[1]

Architecture

The sanctuary was built over an area of 4.8 hectares with a build-up area of 1.6 hectares.[2] The sanctuary has four sections, which are Larva Center, Pupa House, Tarantula Adventure and Bugs Kingdom.[3]

Exhibition

The sanctuary exhibits over more than 20 species of butterfly.

Facilities

The sanctuary is equipped with toilet, cafeteria, souvenir shops and resting area.[4]

Research and development

In February 2017, the sanctuary produced an artificial nectar to replace flower nectar to prolong the lifespan of butterflies until 28 days.[5]

Opening time

The park opens everyday from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 a.m.[6]
