P. K. Abdu Rabb was the Minister for Education of the Government of Kerala. He represents the Tirurangadi constituency of Malappuram district in Kerala
Early life
Abdu Rabb was born to K. Avukader Kutty Naha, the All-India Muslim League leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, and Kunhibiriyam Umma.[citation needed] He gained a master's degree in English Literature.[1]
Political career
Abdu Rabb was elected to the Legislative Assembly in 1996 and 2001 from Tanur Constituency and in 2006 from Manjeri Constituency of Malappuram district.[citation needed] He won in the Tirurangadi Constituency for Kerala Assembly Election 2011. He became part of the Oommen Chandi-lead Ministry and was Education Minister.[citation needed]
Controversies
Green controversy
He issued instructions that female teachers must wear green blouses while attending functions.[citation needed] He experimented with "green boards" in Malappuram, asserting that such boards are the international norm.[2] This caused opposition from other parties.[citation needed]
