The Piala Belia (Template:Lang-en) is a youth football competition for under-19 players in Malaysia.
The league consist of youth squad from clubs competing in the Malaysian football league and also youth squad from sports schools under the management of Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).[1][2][3]
The competition exist alongside the developmental competition for under-21 players, the Piala Presiden.
History
Since its inception in 2008, the Piala Belia has been the major tournament for under-19. In 2009 to 2011, the competition is combined with President's Cup. In 2015 the format of the competition changed to the league format.[4]
In 2016, the tournament format was also changed with the clubs was divided into two groups and played a round-robin leg with four top clubs from each group at the end of the season will qualify for the playoff round to determine the champion.[1][2] The final match for the cup has been broadcast by Astro Arena.[5]
Logo evolution
Since the inception of the competition in 1985, numerous logo has been introduced to reflect the sponsorship. During the introduction of 2017 season a new logo has been unveiled.[3]
