Welcome
[edit]Nice to see a portal on Uruguay being set up. I've been doing a little bit of work on the Latin American portal recently, which unfortunately doesn't currently have a regular maintainer, and I'm also active on the Argentine portal. (I'm not looking for any more work though - my home is New Zealand and I am primarily responsible for the New Zealand and Oceania portals.) Once this portal is fully constructed (which I consider to be the case once all sections of it are populated), then feel free to add it to the list of Other Portals at the bottom of the Latin America portal page, or drop me a note and I'll add it for you.-gadfium 03:35, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
Articles that need Attention
[edit]I filled in the one section on the portal for "Article that Need attention" and made a hierarchy for filling it in with Articles. I added two Articles that I noticed need work. Please help to add other articles to it. Let me know and I'd be happy to help with it. Also, I notice the WIKI side in spanish has many articles that are quite good. Maybe we could put some of them on the translation request side. Thoughts? Neagley (talk) 03:01, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Notice from the Portals WikiProject
[edit]WikiProject Portals is back!
The project was rebooted and completely overhauled on April 17th, 2018. Its goals are to revitalize the entire portal system, make building and maintaining portals easier, support the ongoing improvement of portals and the editors dedicated to this, and design the portals of the future.
As of May 2nd, 2018, membership is at 60 editors, and growing. You are welcome to join us.
There are design initiatives for revitalizing the portals system as a whole, and for improving each component of portals. So far, 2 new dynamic components have been developed: Template:Transclude lead excerpt and Template:Transclude random excerpt.
Tools are provided for building and maintaining portals, including automated portals that update themselves in various ways.
And, if you are bored and would like something to occupy your mind, we have a wonderful task list.
From your friendly neighborhood Portals WikiProject. Hope to see you there. Sincerely, — The Transhumanist 07:49, 2 May 2018 (UTC)
2020 portal updates
[edit]The following updates occurred to the Uruguay portal in March 2020. North America1000 12:58, 23 March 2020 (UTC)
- Updated portal using Template:Transclude random excerpt, which provides readers with current, up-to-date information that is verbatim to that in articles. A consensus approving the usage of transclusion templates in portals was formed at this Village Pump discussion. Used some suitable selections moved here from Portal:Uruguay/Selected article/Archives and Portal:Uruguay/Selected article.
- Expanded the selected article section, added FA-class articles: Uruguayan War, 1930 FIFA World Cup, Empire of Brazil. Added FL-class article: List of international goals scored by Luis Suárez. Added GA-class articles: 2018 Punta del Este ePrix, Platine War.
- Added some B-class articles to the selected article section, to round-out the portal to provide a more comprehensive topical overview. Montevideo, Río de la Plata, Rioplatense Spanish, and some additional articles: Economy of Uruguay, Uruguayans, Politics of Uruguay, Uruguay national football team, PLUNA, Ciudad de la Costa, Peñarol, Maldonado, Uruguay, Uruguay national rugby union team, Water supply and sanitation in Uruguay, Armed Forces of Uruguay.
- Added a new General images section.
- Moved usable article selections from Portal:Uruguay/People directly to the main portal page, using transclusions from the respective articles.
- Expanded the People section with some B-class articles: Diego Forlán, Daniel Hendler, Edinson Cavani, Pablo Cuevas, Luis Suárez.
