Prince Louis of Luxembourg (given names: Louis Xavier Marie Guillaume; born 3 August 1986, Luxembourg) is the third son of the Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg. Besides Prince of Luxembourg, he is a Prince of Nassau. His godparents are Xavier Sanz and Princess Margaretha of Liechtenstein.

Prince Louis has two elder siblings: Guillaume, Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg and Prince Félix of Luxembourg; and two younger siblings: Princess Alexandra and Prince Sébastien of Luxembourg. He is married to Tessy de Nassau, a former NCO in the Luxembourg army. They have two sons, Gabriel de Nassau (born before his parents' marriage) and Noah de Nassau.

Prince Louis' education includes the International School of Luxembourg; and Beau Soleil boarding school, Villars-sur-Ollon, Switzerland.

Marriage and family

Prince Louis and Tessy married on 29 September 2006 at a parish church in Gilsdorf. Upon his marriage, the prince gave up his succession rights and those of all the couple's children, although Louis retains his title of Prince of Luxembourg and the style of Royal Highness while Tessy and Gabriel (and any of the couple's future children) hold the surname de Nassau with no titles. [1] The family live in Switzerland, where the Prince is studying.

Gabriel

Prince Louis and Tessy welcomed their first child, a boy, christened Gabriel Michael Louis Ronny de Nassau,[2] who was born in Switzerland on 12 March 2006 before their marriage.[3] Gabriel, the first grandchild for Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, was baptised on 22 April 2006 at the parish church in Gilsdorf where his parents later married. His godparents are his paternal aunt, Princess Alexandra and maternal uncle, Ronny Antony.

Noah

The couple's second son, Noah Guillaume de Nassau, was born on 21 September 2007 at the Maternité Grande-Duchesse Charlotte in Luxembourg City.[4]

The second grandchild for Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, the baby was baptised on 27 October 2007, at the same church in Gilsdorf where his elder brother was christened and his parents were subsequently married. His godparents are his paternal uncle, Guillaume, and his maternal aunt, Patty Antony.
