Pyra: Ang Babaeng Apoy is a Filipino afternoon drama series of GMA Network. It stars Thea Tolentino on her very first lead role in a drama as the network's executives were impressed by her performance in Anna Karenina while Roxanne Guinoo and her co-star Gladys Reyes also reunited since Home Sweet Home. It premiered on August 26, 2013 replacing Kakambal ni Eliana and worldwide via GMA Pinoy TV on August 27, 2013 on the network's GMA Afternoon Prime.[1][2][3] The series concluded its fourteen-week run on November 29, 2013 with a total of seventy episodes.

Plot

Pyra was a pyrokinetic since birth, meaning she has an ability to raise fire whenever her emotions affect her. Besides that, she is a normal girl who lives with her mother. Her life will change when she falls in love with a man.

Synopsis

Pyra (Thea Tolentino) is actually the daughter of Ramon (Christopher Roxas) and Barbara Del Fierro (Roxanne Guinoo) was raised by Merly Lucente-Del Fierro (Angelu De Leon) who became her step-mother. When she was still a baby, her father Ramon was attacked by an unknown assailants because he's a pyrokinetic while Barbara gains a burn on her face. She was taken by Merly and to raise her to become a fine woman and she keeps the secret about her real parents. As she grows up, she becomes pyrokinetic when she is angry as she demonstrates her pyrokinetic powers by creating fire to scare the troublemakers away with her eyes changed from brown to burnt orange when activating her powers. At some point after the incident, Barbara marries Daniel Del Fierro (Ryan Eigenmann) and adopts a girl named Cindy (Elle Ramirez) who isan extremely brash and a spoiled rich girl under her aunt Susan Del Fierro's tutelage (Gladys Reyes) to get what she wants. Pyra later works as a janitor in the theater and meets Jeffrey (Jeric Gonzales) which is the man who she loves but later becomes frail due to her powers that she might hurt anyone with her ability to manipulate fire when Cindy treats her like trash and physically abuses her due to her feelings for Jeffrey and she can make her more humiliated to make her as an standing rivalry for the man they love and will do anything to get Jeffrey from Pyra.

As the story progresses, Ramon was alive after surviving an attack several years prior and now works in the circus headed by Sirko (German Moreno). He manages to rescue Pyra after being pursued and kidnapped by Daniel and his cohorts and treats her injuries until she recovers. Pyra notices Ramon is a pyrokinetic like she is but his pyrokinetic powers are weaken and not concentrated enough due to his age. Pyra eventually use her powers which Ramon was surprised to see it was powerful than he is until it reveals that Pyra is his daughter before they keep a secret to Barbara after being told by Merly. Both father and daughter continues their work in the circus until they escape from Sirko's abusive and greedy daughter, Osang (Jenny Miller) who is a knack for paying them some big money. Ramon eventually reunites with Barbara after she escaped from Daniel and Susan which Ramon reveals that Daniel was the one who plans to kill him several years ago due to his jealousy towards him for Barbara and also knows that Pyra is their daughter much to Barbara's happiness. Barbara decides to settle down in the other province with Ramon and Pyra by taking the roro cruise ship.

In the near end of the series, Daniel manages to corner Ramon, Pyra, Barbara, Jeffrey and Merly as Merly was shot by him while she saves Pyra from being shot. Pyra angrily kills Daniel with her pyrokinetic powers to burn him down to ashes which Susan witnesses her brother's death. After Merly's funeral and her burial, Susan finally abducts Pyra as Ramon, Jeffrey, and Barbara tries to find her. Pyra was later released due to her manipulation of fire after being taunted and extinguish her fire with a fire extinguisher by Susan and now she wanted to fight against her and Cindy who is in Susan's side. Cindy attempts to kill Pyra with a handgun but Pyra manages to burn her face with her powers as a taste of her own medicine for physically abuse her and mistreating her badly from the very beginning. Susan wants to kill her until she was arrested by the police as Jeffrey covers up Pyra's pyrokinetic powers from them.

After the incident, Cindy was upset after being burned by Pyra and Barbara tells her that an ugly face is considered to be beautiful as she shows her burned face to her. Cindy finally apologizes Pyra for her spoiled and abusive actions and she becomes her step-sister. The series ends when Pyra narrates that her family is now in peace and Cindy became his step-sister and continues their relationship with Jeffrey while her parents Ramon and Barbara finally renewed their relationship and the camera pans on the roro cruise ship that sails back to their home in Manila.
