Rocky Smith

Rocky Smith (born Oroville, California) is a retired professional basketball player.

Rocky graduated from Oroville High in 1973. He was a perenniel first team All Star all four years with the Tigers.

Rocky started his college basketball career at Butte Community College from 1973-1975.

Smith played college basketball with Oregon State University, where he was named to the All-Pac-8 First Team in 1977. Smith had led the Beavers in scoring in his final two seasons,[1] and was drafted by the Houston Rockets in 1977.[2]

Smith later played professional basketball in Australia where he played for the St. Kilda Saints in the National Basketball League. With the Saints he was the NBL Most Valuable Player in 1980,[3] and was also named the Grand Final MVP in that year. The following season he was named in the All-NBL First Team.

He played one season in the Continental Basketball Association for the Wyoming Wildcatters in 1982-83, where he averaged 7.3 points per game.[4]

Rocky has also played in Brazil, being the most expensive player in the country in the 80's. He played for Clube Atlético Monte Líbano (basketball) in 1981-1982, Sport Club Corinthians Paulista from 1983 until 1986, Limeira in 1987-1988, Clube de Regatas do Flamengo in 1988-1989, and Franca Basquetebol Clube in 1990-1991, some of the most traditional Brazilian basketball teams.[5]
