Saurashtra is one of three cricket teams based in Gujarat which competes in the Ranji Trophy (the others being Baroda and Gujarat). When they were known as Nawanagar cricket team they won the Ranji Trophy in 1936-37 and were also runners up in the very next season of 1937-38.[1]

Competition history

Saurashtra/Nawanagar/Western India have won the Ranji Trophy (Plate) in 1936-37 and 1943-44, both times defeating Bengal.

They have been runners up in Ranji Trophy (plate) 1937-38 2012-13 and 2015-16, they lost against Hyderabad, Mumbai and Mumbai respectively.
