Streak is the developer of an eponymous customer relationship management platform for Gmail.[1][2] Streak was founded by Aleem Mawani and Omar Ismail[3] and is a graduate of the Y Combinator seed accelerator.[4] The company has received $1.9 million in venture capital from investors including Battery Ventures, Crunchfund, Floodgate, Michael Birch, Chris Sacca, and David Tish.[5] Streak is also the developer of SecureGmail, open-source Google Chrome extension that allows users to encrypt Gmail messages.[6]

History

Streak was founded in 2011 by Aleem Mawani, a former Google product manager,[7] and Omar Ismail to solve their sales needs.[3][4] It was accepted into Y Combinator's Summer 2011 class[4] and graduated from the accelerator in early 2012.[8] The company held a soft launch of its platform in January 2012.[4] Streak entered open beta in March of that year.[8]

Product

Streak is a spreadsheet-style[8] customer relationship management plug-in for Gmail that supports both Google Chrome and Safari web browsers.[9][10] Users connect the plugin to their Google account via OpenID and do not share their login credentials with Streak.[9] Streak was released as an iOS application in August 2013.[11] Streak added email read receipts to its platform in early 2014.[12]
