Sungei Bedok MRT station (DT37/TE31) is a future underground Mass Rapid Transit interchange and terminal station on the Downtown Line and Thomson-East Coast Line in Bedok planning area, Singapore.[1] The station is being built east of where Upper East Coast Road becomes Bedok Road, and will serve residents of the Eastwood estate. Nearby facilities include the Bedok Food Centre, Eastwood Centre and the Laguna National Golf & Country Club.[2]

The station is named after Sungei Bedok, a small river within its vicinity. Despite its name and location, the station is not contiguous to both Bedok North and Bedok Reservoir stations of the Downtown Line as the line passes through 6 other stations within Tampines before reaching Sungei Bedok. A similar situation can be observed at Rochor planning area, where the consecutive stations of Little India and Rochor is non-contiguous with Bencoolen and Jalan Besar stations, due to the nature of Downtown Line.

History

This station was first announced on 15 August 2014 as part of the Downtown Line stage 3e.[3] Like the existing HarbourFront MRT station, this future MRT station will serve as a terminal station for 2 lines.
