Surajbhan Singh is a social reformer and former member of parliament (MP) of India. He was elected to the parliament from Bihar contesting on a ticket from Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). His wife, Veena Devi, is a MP from Munger parliamentary constituency on a LJP ticket. He is a very controversial figure.[1]
Background family and education
Political career
He started his Career in politics by contesting Assembly election against Dilip Singh, the sitting Minister in Government of Bihar and the elder brother of Criminal turned politician Anant Singh in 2000 and Defeated him by huge margin. After he was elected an independent MLA from the Mokama (Vidhan Sabha constituen Mokama) then became MP of Balia, Bihar on a LJP ticket.[3][4] Currently he is debarred from contesting due to conviction in the Brij Behari Prasad murder case. His wife is MP for the seat at present, having defeated Lalan Singh of the Janata Dal (United) party.
Murder trial
Surajbhan Singh was alleged to have shot and killed Rami Singh, a resident of Madhurapur village in Begusarai district on 16 January 1992. On 24 June 2008, he was found guilty by a Bihar court.after that he is going to jail.[5]
