Gear?

Does anyone have any idea what synth Justice uses for the deep bass found in the songs "Let There Be Light" and "D.A.N.C.E."? I'm fairly certain it's the exact same synth both times. Another version of the sound (though highly distorted) may be the bass used in "Waters of Nazareth." I'm dying to know. Actually, they use a bass guitar that's heavily edited in Cubase. I asked Gaspard and he said that they use a Juno 6 for a lot of stuff, he also said they use Cubase SX for all their songwriting and arrangement. I would think that a heavily distorted bass guitar would account for most of their bass sounds.

Christian Dance?

Many people have enquired as to whether Justice are a "christian" act.

Nothing actually indicates they are christian other than their image which is far more likely to be employed for originality, as well as song titles and the genre on their myspace (which quite simply seems to relate to image).

Common sense would only imply that assuming their christianity is, for lack of a better term, silly and completely takes away from the point of their image; to enhance their music. Having said that, there is an interview or two around that would confirm that (in somewhat their own terms) that they haven't been practicing christians since childhood, and their image refers more to how their music in a club can bring people together like a church.

Their my-space says they are christian club. (http://www.myspace.com/etjusticepourtous). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.3.90.40 (talk) 03:06, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Metallica remix

Although a remixed version of 'Master of puppets' has been played at live shows, no mp3 is seen to be available which is the general outlet for remixes and has been the case for all previous justice remixes. Is it justified (no pun intended) to list this as a Remix of the band. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.160.99.7 (talk) 14:36, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Its definitely not a remix, the sidechained the kick and played with highpass filters. But that's basically it. -anon —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.83.254.52 (talk) 20:29, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fabric Mix

The official page at Fabric does not contain information regarding the release of a mix cd by Justice —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.13.22.47 (talk) 19:20, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The remix was rejected. 80.202.234.122 (talk) 13:42, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Daft Punk

Is there really no reference to Daft Punk being an influence on their fellow frenchies? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.190.218.244 (talk) 11:21, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation

Pronunciation - is it worth including a mention of how the band's name is to be pronounced - ie, is it as in English or as in French? I'd add it myself but don't actually know... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.243.220.42 (talk) 17:45, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The pronunciation in the article seems redundant: Justice (pronounced Justice). Shouldn't there be some phonetics in there? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.30.180.134 (talk) 00:46, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think instead of Just-EECE it should say something like "juice-TEECE", to get the right "jus" in the French Justice. Although, I don't think pronounciation matters; everyone English-speaking pronounces it in English (including TV shows, etc) and everyone French speaks it French. —Preceding unsigned comment added by M.nelson (talkcontribs) 04:20, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Genre

Sorry if i get opinionated, but i constantly see their genre labeled as "Electro House". I know that electro house is an umbrella genre to label basically any popular independant electronic artist, and acts like Digitalism and Boys Noize who are closely associated with Justice fit well within the genre. However, as a sum off their musical parts i really don't believe that Justice can be called Electro House at all. Their music lacks heavy basslines, heavy sequenced beats and repeadative synthesised melodies. Instead, the music can be much more closely identified with earlier Electro production styles, with instrumentation of disco and funk rock and some examples of synthpop. The music, because of organic drumbeats in "improvised" sequences and organic funk basslines identifies more with pop music of the 70s and 80s, with the occassional heavier techno production (the main example being Waters of Nazereth). Overall, House has a cleaner, more synthesised, more repeadative and more bass-heavy sound by far than almost any Justice track. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.209.194.112 (talk) 13:42, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I strongly disagree. I believe that Justice does have elements of House because of the Disco beats in the background of numerous songs. However, rather than normal house, they can be considered Electro-House, which is not an umbrella term in the least. They should be considered electro House for their elements of house, mixed in with raw beats, heavy drums, and heavy bass lines (which are all prevalent). They cannot be labeled as Disco because none of their songs are truly disco, but rather House (which is similar). You also need to take into consideration that they are also Christian-Club. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jordanscales (talkcontribs) 18:15, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree with alot of that, but the Christian-Club thing takes the cake. Does no one get jokes anymore? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.106.195.198 (talk) 13:28, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Of the major genres or subgenres I suppose Electro House is the closest to what they're doing. I personally like referring to them as Electro-Rock or just French House (which obviously alludes to Daft Punk). In the end, who cares? The less catch-all labels we put on artists the better, IMO. Just make sure the detailed description of their style or "sound" is comprehensive. 76.176.28.68 (talk) 06:15, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Live Setup Images

I'm kind of new to Wikipedia, so I hope this is the place to post this kind of info.

I came across some images of Justice's live setup:

[http://www.hipsterrunoff.com/2008/10/this-will-enable-u-2-become-the-next-justice.html ] Maybe if someone asks the owner of that blog of we can use those images in the justice wiki entry?

The Party/tthheeppaarrttyy

Just wondering why the title of this song seems to switch (looking at the history anyway). According to the tracklisting of , it's spelt Tthhee Ppaarrttyy. londonsista Prod 20:14, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to change the spelling of that track, the following sources (Amazon, Discogs, Rolling Stone, and even Justice's own MySpace page) appear to have it spelt "Tthhee Ppaarrttyy", and the album article itself states that spelling is per the linear notes. londonsista Prod 20:32, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Link removed

I removed the following link:

http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=19700933&albumId=2221315

Clicking the link just takes you to a webpage stating "Invalid Album ID for this user". I'll try to see if I can get a workable link, but my knowledge of MySpace ain't too great! Anyway, just adding the link here incase it's just a temporary thing/someone else can get it to work. (ETA: I think possibly the image in question is only viewable to MySpace users/friends or has been deleted?) londonsista Prod 20:42, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey do you think it's worth mentioning their apearence in gta4, it's a small role but it would bulk out the article —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.18.24.102 (talk) 20:46, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Band"?

They aren't a band. -- Erroneuz1 (talk) 02:56, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia's article for a band states "musical ensemble is a group of two or more musicians who perform instrumental or vocal music" which means Justice is a band regardless if they're better known as a duo. Also, following naming conventions on Wikipedia, music gets grouped as (band), (album), (song) when needed. (WP:NAMING#MUSIC) - so Justice being placed as an article under "Justice (French band)" is appropriate. Douglasr007 (talk) 16:48, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps you could explain then why "band" is better than "group" even, unless for some reason this does not consist of a group. We don't say "D12 is a hip-hop band", we call them a group. This is not a "band", that's a bit too much. -- Erroneuz1 (talk) 02:32, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
but the article merely states this as a duo...I don't see the problem here Douglasr007 (talk) 00:34, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Future Plans?

Does anyone have any source for their future plans (as of May 2009)? Fatrb38 (talk) 07:44, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Genesis?

I'm surprised there is no mention of their song Genesis. It seems to be the soundtrack to everything these days. And it's damned groovy. Beanhead McGinty (talk) 16:43, 12 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

839

I noticed that this article states Justice have an new album either in the making or already released titled "839". I found the album on spotify and it seems like a collaboration between Justice and an artist called Metro. However, the style of the album seems very different to that of (Cross) and the album cover for 839 has "Justice//Metro" written on it. Can we get a confirmation that it is the same Justice on both albums? There are a lot of artists around named Justice.86.154.69.44 (talk) 16:53, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think that's someone else that records music under the name justice. Annoying of spotify not to be able to differntiate though, same thing happens with 'The Libertines'. cya 94.193.10.120 (talk) 15:52, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

French Band??

Is this an appropriate title? 61.69.206.68 (talk) 12:51, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have a better alternative? Headbomb {talk / contribs / physics / books} 13:16, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest renaming the title from Justice (French band) to just Justice (band) as there are no other bands named Justice on Wikipedia, and the usual convention is not to include the nationality in the title. If there are no objections soon I will be bold and make the change. [Edit: added a request] Theoboyd (talk) 12:10, 14 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Civilization

Surface to Air, the firm that designed the cover artwork, describes Civilization as an upcoming single, not an album: http://www.surfacetoair.com/blog/2011/03/surface-to-air-x-justice/ 71.175.10.113 (talk) 22:20, 11 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Correct Names

I don't know much about "Justice", but I did notice that the names of the members in the general description section of the article don't match the names in the pictures. There must be some mistake or some further explanation is missing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.195.0.154 (talk) 11:37, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

New album tracklist

The part of the article where the tracklist of their next album is looks badly formatted and doesn't belong on this page. I edited it out, and replaced it with a paragraph about information on the upcoming album, properly cited, only to have it reverted back to the tracklist in the middle of the page. If you are determined to put the tracklist up, create a new page called something like "Upcoming Justice Album", because it doesn't belong on this page. It looks ugly, and the text before it reads like an ad. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.30.196.70 (talk) 05:08, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Audio Video Disco WILL NOT BE RELEASED AS SINGLE

according to itunes, the single is actually an EP containing remixes AND Helix from the album. Therefore i have changed it accordingly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.82.240.199 (talk) 01:20, 21 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
