Team from the Host Country
[edit]If Urawa Reds win simultaneously the AFC Champions League and JLeague the 7th December Play-Off will not take part. It would be better for Club World Cup. The participation of two teams from the same country would be ridiculous as it was on Brazil 2000, unless they were finalists of one of the six champions leagues. FIFA should learn not to reserve a place for a team from the host country. By the way: where will Club World Cup 2008 take part? What will be the next lucky country? Will it be Japan again? Is it buying a place for its teams? This is professional football, not an amateur competition as World Cup (30/34/38/50/54/58/62/66/70/74/78/82/86/90/94/98/02/06) has been!

- Read the article: if a Japanese team (i.e. Urawa Reds) wins the AFC CL, the "host" berth no longer goes to the J.League champions, but to the AFC runner-up instead. Also, the 2008 edition will be in Japan again, but open bidding to host the event will start with the 2009 cup. --Gabbec 14:42, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
So: what will be the criteria to choose the host country, i.e. the participation of a non continental champion team (it's unjust to give this opportunity to some teams and not to give it to the others)? And if the finalists of the champions league of the host country's confederation were teams of national league of that country, what would happen? JMRRF
