Lead section has extra information

[edit]

I have tagged this article as needing clean-up because the lead section has extra information that is not in the body of the article. The lead section is not like a newspaper lede because Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a news website. Information in the lead should be in the body of the article too. For this article, the lead section seems to be conveying a completely different story about a single bomber, yet the body of the article mentions 8 others who were involved. The lead section mentions the victims were tourists and students, yet the body of the article only identifies them as "nationals" of different countries, including Moroccan citizens and residents. The lead describes the bomb and how the perpetrators were tracked down, yet the body of the article makes no mention of evidence connecting those involved to the bombing and instead suggests that those who were imprisoned were only implicated as a result of confessions extracted by torture of unnamed persons. See WP:LEADFOLLOWSBODY and also see MOS:LEAD for purpose of the lead, as it should provide an accessible overview to the whole article. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 23:34, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
