Non visa-foreigners

[edit]

Shouldn’t Vellupillay and Hall be listed as Australian since neither of them have been called up for Sri Lanka and Fiji respectively? By the same logic, it makes sense that Cummings should be listed as Scottish until he gets a Socceroos callup Ausfootballfan (talk) 07:29, 21 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If I'm not wrong, In this case they've been called up and declared they wish to represent the relevant national team (Sri Lanka, Fiji, Australia) --SuperJew (talk) 12:09, 21 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Cummings had definitely not been called up for Australia and Vellupillay hasn’t declared for Sri Lanka
Hall has never been called up by Fiji as far as I’m aware. Ausfootballfan (talk) 12:32, 21 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Okay regarding Velupillay, I see I was confused by non-RS-sourced additions - looking into it can't see there's an RS linking him to Sri Lanka, so removing from table.
Here is a source for Hall choosing to represent another national team.
Cummings wishes to represent Australia. --SuperJew (talk) 12:59, 21 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request: Home and away fixture list

[edit]

Can we bring back the home and away fixture list, last seen in 2013-14 season? Milkk7 (talk) 09:55, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Matilda Maniac and Nzs9: both of you are debating via edit summaries and are both approaching 3RR. I suggest you discuss the issue on the talk page here. --SuperJew (talk) 05:15, 26 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I tend to agree with the rationale for removing these at the time - including all fixtures here (particularly as the league has expanded since the initial, smaller comp) is a bit excessive- and the information is available elsewhere. If included, a disproportionate amount of this article would simply be listing fixtures and results. Not sure I’ve seen any leagues of equivalent size list every single league fixture. Macosal (talk) 05:47, 26 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
At the moment the 'convention' or consensus for the last several seasons of the A-League Men's has been, that these are typically shown on each of the teams' season articles, which is why I deleted this from the overall season article. But this information is relevant should be cut and paste onto each club's season articles. Some of these are now done, and I have updated the Central Coast Mariners games.. If you have time to do some cut-paste work on these, theres still 5-6 teams where this information has not yet been collated and added.
For the A-League Women's competition, different story. On these season articles all the matches are generally displayed, because there are generally NO club's season articles. Often there's 2-3 if there's someone keen to create them, but generally they sit there with redlinks throughout the season. Matilda Maniac (talk) 11:34, 26 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Reverted further edit on 30 August by @Nzs9: to the previous stable version. Nzs9 has not contributed here yet, and I note has simply blanked the corresponding section on their talk page. Happy to get their viewpoint in this forum. Matilda Maniac (talk) 02:56, 1 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
As an aside, all of these matches have now been added to the remaining club season articles. Matilda Maniac (talk) 02:59, 1 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It is much more informative so it should be featured on the season article also Nzs9 (talk) 08:00, 3 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I was hoping to get some informative or constructive debate here, rather than Nzs9 reverting again, and then providing their opinion here. This has not been the format used for the past several seasons. This process is not very constructive at the moment. Matilda Maniac (talk) 08:42, 3 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The information is present in the clubs' season pages. What happened when it was in both clubs' and league season pages was that editors had to edit 3 times the same information which is completely redundant. --SuperJew (talk) 09:46, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Keep it on the page, there are multiple editors who want it and it is more beneficial than not Nzs9 (talk) 08:26, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Nzs9: As said to you before, please don't revert away from the stable version until and if consensus is reached here as per your version. -- SuperJew (talk) 08:37, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Should not be in the article. A simple table is enough like the other leagues have (Example). All matches are in the team season articles for the specific year (discussion we had). Status quo was to not have them and it should remain like this until the discussion is over. Kante4 (talk) 09:37, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Why not though? Detailed Fixture as well as the table is better, no? Nzs9 (talk) 07:53, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No, it is overkill. And all info are in the specific season seticles. Kante4 (talk) 10:57, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Jordon Hall nationality

[edit]

In another case of Nzs9 adding information with no regard to other users' input, they are adding Jordon Hall to the "Foreign players" table as a non-visa player as a "players who were born and started their professional career abroad but have since gained Australian citizenship.

  • The first edit was unsourced and unexplained.
  • Second edit was with an explanation he was born and raised in Manchester, moved to Australia around primary school but still no source.
  • Third edit included sources: an unverified Facebook account without even a profile picture and Transfermarkt which is not a reliable source. Even ignoring the verifiablity and reliability issues of the sources, Transfermarkt only holds that his citizenship is English (nothing about birthplace or start of career), while the Facebook page gives the information that Jordon works at Manchester United and studies "ABSOLUTELY NOTHING" at Bossley Park High School. The all-caps styling and the lack of profile picture make it seem like this is not the real account of Jordon Hall. Even taking this information as true - Jordon moved to Australia before high school (or "around primary school" according to Nzs9), and therefore started his professional career in Australia, not abroad.
  • Fourth and most recent edit claims it's his own facebook - he played youth football in England and uses the English flag on official websites. As said above, the Facebook claim is quite unlikely and also even if he played youth football in England (at high school level), that has no bearing on when he started his professional career.

I would be most helpful of assistance as the user is refusing to listen. --SuperJew (talk) 05:12, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you being such a sook? I'm not refusing to listen. That facebook account is clearly him, if you had half a brain cell you would see that the face is identical to him albeit from 2013. Your claim of me using players who were born and started their professional career abroad but have since gained Australian citizenship. is wrong because i changed it to number 2 Nzs9 (talk) 07:51, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Firstly keep the language civil please. Secondly, the Facebook page doesn't have a profile picture, and regardless it is not a reliable or verifiable source. Thirdly, criteria 2 is Australian citizens (or New Zealand citizens, in the case of Wellington Phoenix) who have chosen to represent another national team. What source shows that Hall has chosen to represent a different national team? --SuperJew (talk) 08:04, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I just thought that considering he is English, he would feature on that page. If that upsets you so much then you can take it off. Nzs9 (talk) 08:22, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't upset me, it's just wrong and not reliably sourced. This is an encyclopedia of factual sourced information, not rumours and opinions. --SuperJew (talk) 09:30, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Jordan Gall hasn't declared that he would play international football/soccer for any country (England, Australia or otherwise). Frankly, there doesn't seem to be a definition for what a "Non-visa foreigner" is, so that seems unencylopedic (as there's no sources that any of the players listed there are playing without a visa). But unless there's an actual source that classifies him as such i.e. it classifies him as both an English footballer and an Australian visa-free citizen, then he shouldn't be added. That should be the standard for all players listed there. Joseph2302 (talk) 09:43, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The visa players is the important issue, as there is a limit on visa players per team. The "non-visa foreigners" is more to clarify why a club might seem to have more than the allowed number of foreigners. The most notable issues are such when a player starts as a visa player and over time gains citizenship and is moved to a non-visa (for example there was a big contention with Milos Ninkovic when the club wanted him to apply for citizenship so he wouldn't be counted as a visa player). --SuperJew (talk) 10:14, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sardinero "assumptions"

[edit]

@SuperJew the source you submitted didn't say it was an injury replacement - you are the one making assumptions, not me! Choose kindness Nzs9 (talk) 12:32, 17 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Clearly says "He hasn’t yet, they get an injury replacement for him for now" referring to Sardinero. --SuperJew (talk) 05:50, 18 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Red card controversey

[edit]

Hi,

There has been a lot of controversey that has surrounded the adl vs syd match which hiro was wrongfully red carded by the referee and the var checked it and for some reason it allowed it, can we talk about that? 123.243.127.70 (talk) 19:38, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Well its all simmered down now 48 hours later. And it will be forgotten by next week (which is certainly not the case with the Sydney United 58 crowd behaviour at the 2022 Australia Cup Final). Perhaps if it needs its own section of prose it should be on the relevant teams' season arcticles rather than the overarching league article, but is it notable enough to stand the test of time? Matilda Maniac (talk) 06:26, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think it's notable enough for anything more than a note on the discipline record table on 2022–23 Adelaide United FC season (which already is there). Perhaps a mention in prose on that page describing the season if and when that is added. If we do decide this is notable enough, then need to add a bunch more, like Yan Sasse red card on debut and 3 week suspension reduced to 2. Maybe in the league season page there could be case for a general paragraph about cards, suspensions, and VAR decisions. --SuperJew (talk) 12:40, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Clean sheets

[edit]

I know Ultimate A-League have listed both Holmes and Freke as keeping clean sheets which is why it was added to the table but surely that’s a mistake as a keeper had to play a full game for it to count as one right? Ausfootballfan (talk) 11:40, 29 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Clubs

[edit]

The 'Clubs' section lists 3 clubs twice, so 15 clubs appear instead of 12. Can someone delete the three irrelevant entries? Thanks.

I don't see where there is a redundancy --SuperJew (talk) 12:45, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
On mobile, and the rowspan=2 not behaving, so the three clubs with two venues appear twice. Matilda Maniac (talk) 22:40, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
