T20I?
[edit]I am starting to wonder if this event will actually have T20I status, given the lack of info from the ACA or from any of the participating teams on their websites or social media. Bs1jac (talk) 15:14, 12 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Bs1jac: I'm starting to doubt as well. Only 3 days are left for the tournament to start and there are still no news about the fixtures or anything else from anywhere. But since there are multiple teams who previously played T20Is are participating here, including Kenya, we might have some news. Human (talk) 01:23, 13 September 2019 (UTC)
I just received this from the ACA Facebook via DM: "The dates can be only announced after reaching an agreement with the broadcaster. Will let you know". Seems a bit late for deciding that! Hopefully they will be T20I, and I can see why the page creator assumed they would be. Odd that none of the teams have mentioned the event on their website or social media though. Bs1jac (talk) 05:54, 13 September 2019 (UTC)
- I think there may even be a delay in the event taking place Bs1jac (talk) 11:03, 14 September 2019 (UTC)
- Any updates on this one happening? Ankurc.17 (talk) 17:00, 14 September 2019 (UTC)
- No further news. Bs1jac (talk) 20:28, 14 September 2019 (UTC)

- Don't tell me - they've all been rained off...! :D Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 14:43, 15 September 2019 (UTC)
- Any news if this is even happening? Ankurc.17 (talk) 06:54, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
- Nothing on any of the social media accounts of the most active teams. Even the ACA has nothing, and they seem to update quite often with all sorts of tournaments. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:37, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
- I already wasted my efforts on creating this article on Marathi wikipedia phew! Aditya tamhankar Say Vande Mataram with Me 17:29, 16 September 2019 (IST)
- Qualifying rounds took place in 2018 (immediately after the three subregional qualifiers for the world T20 Africa qualifiers so would be surprising if it doesn't happen at all. No idea when it will happen though. They had been responsive via Facebook direct message but no updates beyond the above about scheduling and broadcasters. Bs1jac (talk) 18:39, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
- I think it's safe to assume this is not taking place in the original timeframe, but is it being rescheduled or cancelled? Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 19:57, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
- I do believe its not happening. Dissapointed though since both Kenya and Nigeria would be playing in the T20 Qualifiers and havent had any matches since the African Regionals. Ankurc.17 (talk) 02:45, 28 September 2019 (UTC)
- No official matches anyway. They have both been playing matches in the UAE in the last week or two. Bs1jac (talk) 13:00, 16 October 2019 (UTC)

Dates
[edit]@Lugnuts: I have been in touch with one of the coaches of Malawi cricket regarding the Kwacha Cup and he mentioned this tournament (that they are supposed to be playing in). He said that the dates keep getting changed, so I think it is still going to happen at some point. He said that rumours currently have it penciled in for January/February. Bs1jac (talk) 20:54, 10 November 2019 (UTC)
- Excellent news! Jan/Feb would make sense with Kenya and Uganda playing in the CWC Challenge League B in December. Great work in finding out more info about this. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 20:56, 10 November 2019 (UTC)
- @A Simple Human:. Good spot, I had been looking for news just a couple of days ago. I have made a few changes to the page and the associate season page as well. Bs1jac (talk) 09:44, 31 December 2019 (UTC)
- Nice work. Was just about to sort out the page move, and you've already done it. Thanks. Hope you have a great 2020! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 11:22, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
- @Bs1jac and A Simple Human: I see in that press release are the details of the Africa T20 qualifier (group B) this summer. I've set up the bare bones of the Africa tournament and started the qualification table at the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup article. Do you know of any details of any of the other regions, or indeed more of the African one? Bs1jac - I don't know if the Group B Africa info is enough for you to start off the page for Associate international cricket in 2020? And a happy new year! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 20:37, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
- @Lugnuts and A Simple Human: Thanks for doing that. I saw those details too but wasnt sure there was enough (or rather it felt too difficult!). Might create the associate season later if there is enough to warrant it. According to Czarsports, they said that Kuwait had announced they are hosting the Asian western region qualifier (for the 2021 t20 world cup, as opposed the the asia cup!), but I found no details. I also heard that Philippines will host EAP North in the recent women's bilateral ref, but that wasn't certain. Bs1jac (talk) 20:47, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
- No problem. Once we get something more concrete for the other regions, we can start working on them. I had to re-read the articles from the National several times to check and double-check that they were referring to the Asia Cup qualifier and not the Asia sub-region! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 20:49, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
- @Bs1jac and Lugnuts: I got to know about this tournament from czarsports, but i found out in their article that they copied from the link I gave. Human (talk) 21:24, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
I have been advised by a couple of decent sources that details will be announced soon. Bs1jac (talk) 18:42, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
Coronavirus
[edit]@Lugnuts and A Simple Human:. I received this note from the Malawi coach. Unfortunately this event is a victim of the corona virus outbreak.
Please take note of this important announcement.
Due to the global issues and concern pertaining to the COVID 19 (Coronavirus) and more recently in the African continent, the ACA has announced that the Africa Cup T20 tournament will be postponed till further notice.
This is being done in line with the Kenyan government's efforts to reduce the chances of introduction of the virus into Kenya by prohibiting large gatherings and meetings involving international participants.
Bs1jac (talk) 22:17, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Bs1jac: This doesn't sound good. The virus also reached my country too. I'm expecting a lot of series being cancelled in future. Human (talk) 22:20, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
- Hopefully played at some point later this year, as the 2020 Malaysia Cricket World Cup Challenge League A is suposed to be. Fingers crossed. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:44, 10 March 2020 (UTC)
Yeah indeed. I also read that the EAP qualifiers are not being announced (host or format) until things have settled a bit. Likelt to be changes to others regions too unfortunately. Bs1jac (talk) 12:53, 10 March 2020 (UTC)
2021
[edit]@Bs1jac and Lugnuts: Hi. This tournament might be held in March 2021 according to EC [1]. Thanks Human (talk) 13:48, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
- @A Simple Human: Thanks. Yeah the team at EC are aware, but to be honest it's very much speculative at the moment. Some of the articles sometimes state things that have been mentioned in conversation but not completely confirmed, and I would take this an example of that. Hopefully there will be some more details soon – this had got to be the most delayed tournament of all time! Bs1jac (talk) 13:57, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
- Take that, Lanka Premier League! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 14:10, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
Still plenty of doubt here, despite dates announced for September 2021. Uganda will be in Jersey at the time for the CWC Challenge League. Bs1jac (talk) 18:15, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
Clashes
[edit]This now clashes with 2021–22 Uganda Tri-Nation Series, which would rule out Kenya, Uganda and Nigeria. I suspect the finals won't be played, but let's leave it for now. If necessary we can alter to "was a planned tournament..." etc Bs1jac (talk) 16:14, 23 August 2021 (UTC)
September 2022
[edit]@Lugnuts and A Simple Human: Could it be?! Maybe Bs1jac (talk) 11:46, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
- Looks promising! Probably needs a stand-alone page instead of being added into the 2021 article. Fingers crossed it goes ahead. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 11:53, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
- A tournament four years in making... Human (talk) 11:55, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah I was thinking the same. Obviously need more info but agree we should put this on a new page when the time comes, even if its the same teams. Bs1jac (talk) 12:00, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
@Bs1jac: This post from Botswana is the only other thing I found about the tournament other than the Czarsportz report. Human (talk) 22:29, 11 August 2022 (UTC)
- @A Simple Human At least that appears to confirm its the same 8 teams. Hopefully something a little more concrete on format soon. Bs1jac (talk) 22:34, 11 August 2022 (UTC)
Squads
[edit]@Bs1jac and Mashfi23: The squads seem to have a number of issues. Teams like Ghana Nugeria Malaw Uganda have two different squads in the same page if the profiles below are taken into account. And the Cameroon squad in website the differs from what was announced on their Facebook page. Some of the players listed haven't played for the national recently have raised the doubt. I think if the boards announce an official squads, those should replace the existing ones. Human (talk) 09:39, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- Absolutely, that's why I noted in the edit that we should use better refs once available, and why I kept the Cameroon reference. You will also notice that the schedule and groups are different on the ACA site, with teams arriving on 16th and all groups games on 18/19 across 3 venues. Czarsportz have gone with that, while I have gone with what Cricinfo loaded. The ACA site doesn't feel all that professional, but of course these events do get changed about until the last minute sometimes! Bs1jac (talk) 09:43, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- In fact some of the squad pages have completely changed since yesterday! Bs1jac (talk) 09:57, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
Removed
[edit]@Bs1jac: Was there an agreement to remove the qualifiers from this article? An IP address removed all of them without an explanation and you don't seem to be bothered about that. Human (talk) 12:24, 17 September 2022 (UTC)
- @A Simple Human no, they have done this before. can you restore please? Bs1jac (talk) 12:31, 17 September 2022 (UTC)
- Think I have mostly fixed it all; they also messed with heading levels. Bs1jac (talk) 12:40, 17 September 2022 (UTC)
