Merging to American Airlines

[edit]

I believe this page shall be merged with the American Airlines page, as almost every US carrier has their frequent flyer program in the airlines page itself. Just list the essential details, with AAdvantage airline and car rental partners as shown in Northwest Airlines#WorldPerks and Continental Airlines#OnePass.--Golich17 21:54, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What's not mentioned -- and I think it's true -- is that I believe American Airlines was the first to team with another company to share info electronically to create a competitive advantage for both.

This was a collaboration between American and CitiBank MasterCard credit cards. Use your City AAdvantage MasterCard and get an AAdvantage mile for each dollar spent. Both companies benefited by gaining loyalty. And this might have been a first.

Other outfits quickly caught on. My Shell gasoline charge card was automatically cancelled and I got a free Chase Shell MasterCard. I recall I got a three-cent discount on each Shell gallon of gas purchased with the card.

And then they all got into it, including Visa and American Express. — Preceding unsigned comment added by George Sickler (talkcontribs) 20:36, 16 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
