al-Thenni

[edit]

الثني = al-Thinni or al-Thenni

but

al-Thanay or al-Thanai = الثاني

--محمد الفلسطيني (talk) 06:50, 10 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not that is not entirely correct. الثاني = al-Thani, yes but.

His name is not الثني with a kasra on the tha, but with a sukoon on the tha, that is how most Libyans pronounce it. Therefore al-Thanay captures it better, plus it had a reference.--Aa2-2004 (talk) 11:12, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Rename talk page

[edit]

Hello what us the problem ? It was difficult to rename. Regards. Panam2014 (talk) 16:30, 10 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Based on Google hits, I've moved this page back to where it started, at Abdullah al-Thani

[edit]

Since Wikipedia does not try to set trends with naming conventions, but merely to follow the trends of others, I have done several Google searches on the various name spelling options, and by far Abdullah al-Thani is the most frequently used spelling with over 3 million hits. Accordingly I've moved this set of pages there. Thanks, Scott P. (talk) 21:30, 5 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
