active vs intelligent
[edit]We need to improve this page. First of all, active packaging is not the same as intelligent or smart packaging. Or is this the USA approach? If not then I propose to remove the reference; there are better references. Agree that I do some editing? E.J.Hoekstra (talk) 18:10, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
- Yes,this page needs help. The topics are related but eventually there should probably be a split. I hope other editors can also make contributions. Pkgx (talk) 17:05, 14 June 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Hello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to one external link on Active packaging. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}}
after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}}
to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Direct-to-Consumer Engagement
[edit]A section on Direct-to-Consumer Engagement has been added and re-added. This seems to be a marketing and merchandising program which, may have some merit, but not in this article. This article is on package forms and components which physically interact with the product or with the environment to extend shelf life, signal defectiveness, or other technical functions. Direct-to-Consumer Engagement does not belong in this article. Pkgx (talk) 01:51, 9 February 2023 (UTC)
I had tagged this section as being "dubious" for this article. The subject of consumer engagement might be a good fit for Merchandising or Advertising. It does not fit in this technical article about active packages. The unregistered contributor decided not to discuss the issue but just to remove the tag. The Wikipedia rules on Wikipedia:Edit warring and Wikipedia:Dispute resolution should be reviewed. I have replaced the tag. I welcome a discussion this Talk page. Pkgx (talk) 19:47, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
- As this combines active packaging and connected/smart packaging as one article, I believe Direct to Consumer engagement and marketing within connected packaging belongs in this article.
- Alternatively, as mentioned above under "active vs intelligent', these should strip out elements into two articles. One on active packaging, the second on smart/connected packaging.
- As a professional who delivers marketing solutions in this field, I welcome the discussion and how we can improve this content. 2001:44B8:25C:7B00:E0EA:A384:6BB4:87C1 (talk) 07:31, 13 February 2023 (UTC)
- That is not the point. You can improve content but your subject does NOT belong in this article. It belongs in Advertising, Marketing, or Merchandising. You seem new to Wikipedia. Please join, create a name, and read the rules for making contributions. Pkgx (talk) 13:58, 13 February 2023 (UTC)
- There ha been no justification given for having this section so I will delete it again. Pkgx (talk) 23:34, 19 February 2023 (UTC)
Q R Code
[edit]The section on QR Codes is nice but it does not relate to this article about technically active packages. The input on QR codes would be better in the Bar Code article, QR Code article, or perhaps Advertising. It is not an active nor intelligent package component. Pkgx (talk) 19:47, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
- I have improved the section and provided a better section namePkgx (talk) 23:46, 19 February 2023 (UTC)
