This article was the subject of an educational assignment in Spring 2015. Further details were available on the "Education Program:University of Portsmouth/Applied Human Geography (Spring 2015)" page, which is now unavailable on the wiki.

Religion and ethnicity

I removed the sentence [1] " Statistics suggest Acton Turville to be lacking in religious and ethnic diversity." with the edit summary "Removing editorial opinion". User:Andy Dingley has replaced it, with the relevant part of the edit summary being ".. the non-diversity implication is supported by the source given." The implication is what I would call questionable opinion, WP:OR or WP:SYNTH and IMHO has no place in the article. What do editors think?

The website citation given leads to a general webpage which is not helpful in checking what the source says.SovalValtos (talk) 20:46, 16 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Do you dispute the specific statement from the 2011 census data 78% are Christian, 18% have no specified religion and the remaining 8% state no religion at all? Or are you claiming that a complete absence (to this level of analysis) for any religion other than Christian is anything other than remarkably non-diverse for Britain of recent years? Thank you for updating the reference. The source IMHO is reliable one. The figures within it need to be read in conjunction with the explanatory notes given for example in its Religion section. The figures you have "quoted" are not those I have seen; they add up to 104%. Perhaps a typo? There is no evidence of absence of other religions, 0.8% state other and 7.8% are not stated. My opinion or other editors' opinions as to the level of diversity are not relevant and should not be included in the article. The figures can speak for themselves with readers interpreting them as they wish. Reliably sourced content on religious and ethnic diversity in Acton Turville could be a different matter.SovalValtos (talk) 08:03, 17 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
