responsible use of tags

[edit]

Some wikitags specifically state that readers can find an extended explanation as to why the tag was placed, on the talk page. Other tags say nothing about the talk page. In between are tags, like {{outdated}}, which, when instantiated, say something like: "...There may be additional information on the talk page."

I was told, on WP:AN/I, that I didn't need to give any warning when removing a tag that asserted an extended explanation would be placed on the talk page, if, after 24 hours, the tag placer hadn't placed that explanation.

I suggest those in the middle, where the tag merely states "...There may be additional information on the talk page," where the justification for the tag's placement, also should have an explanation on the talk page, or should be removed.

I do not consider the placement of this tag to be clearly justified. If I return here, after a reasonable period of time, and no meaningful, substantive explanation has been offered I will remove the tag.
