Not that it matters greatly, but Gibson was never conductor of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. See the Wikipedia article on that body. The title "Royal" dates from 1991. Gibson ceased to be full-time conductor in 1984. Think about a correction.Delahays (talk) 10:31, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It might also be worth mentioning that he remained conductor at Sadler's Wells until 1961, and played an important role in supporting Norman Tucker which eventually helped shape the future ENO. His return to Glasgow came on what might be decribed as a wave of support for the musical development of the city, and he made an enormous contribution to Scottish life. No-one who saw his 1968 Gotterdammerung in Glasgow, or "The Trojans" could disagree with that (this isn't wikipedia spek, but after all, this is a talk page). Gotterdammerung fielded Helga Dernesch as Gutrune, and The Trojans the Dido of Janet Baker. He was an excellent judge of singers.Delahays (talk) 19:19, 20 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
