Ambattur is NOT a city in Tamilnadu. Can anyone prove otherwise? --Madhu 16:21, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
- Why 'NOT'? What else do you call this place? --srini 15:54, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
- "Ambattur is a major municipality in..." - thus begins the article itself. So I cannot follow why it is found under the list of cities in Tamilnadu. In any case, if you believe it classifies as a city, I guess the burden of citing the source lies with you. --Madhu 17:38, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
- 'Municipality' is an administrative term, it's not used in the same sense as 'city'. A city can be a municipality. The template you are talking about, Template:Tamil Nadu, calls places with population > 100k as cities. I don't see any problem with that. If Ambattur cannot be called a city, same rule applies to places like Cuddalore, Thoothukudi, Nagercoil, etc., each having lesser population than Ambattur. But I agree with you in that grouping places like Ambattur, Pallavaram, Tambaram and Avadi along with Chennai, Trichy, etc., and calling them major cities looks a little odd. Probalbly, the template should be listing only cities having people > 500k? Whatever the case, I think Template_talk:Tamil_Nadu is the right place for you to raise this issue. --srini 16:50, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
- You are right... I am sorry I was not aware of the >100k population criteria until you told me. I was concerned that ppl had just added Ambattur, Avadi etc to this template out of enthusiasm! That said, yes, it does look weird to club Ambattur and Pallavaram in the league with Madurai and Salem. I will try to discuss about this on the page you have indicated. Thanks for the explanation. --Madhu 15:02, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Tnlogo.png
[edit]Image:Tnlogo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
what is meant Ambattur OT.,where OT Stands for?
There is nothing as Ambattur OT. This is a wrong notation which was first used by PTC. This has become more popular after that only. The bus stand was in the place, where it is now, even earlier. The PTC shifted it to a place near the Girl's School and again shifted it back to the original place, after some time. And hence the notation OT was put in the boards of buses(to signify old terminus). I know this since I am in Ambattur for the past 33 years. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vprakash68 (talk • contribs) 18:05, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
Ambattur OT - OT stands for OLD Terminus .........the new terminus was supposed to be located near the library on the side of girls high school...but was later abandoned in favor of the old one .....hence the name
and Farm Bazaar in on CTH road and by extension south park st and not north park st as mentioned —Preceding unsigned comment added by 175.137.165.96 (talk) 10:05, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Why is Ambattur being given a low importance article status?.
it is one of the largest industrial estates in all of the Indian subcontinent and by far one of the largest neighborhoods in Chennai. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aks bhatt (talk • contribs) 14:13, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
